Kate Bennis

Kate Bennis is an actor, writer, trainer, coach, and clinical social worker.

She brings the many strands of her work together in her communication and presentation coaching. As the lead coach of the Charlottesville TEDx, she has coached a dozen speakers in Charlottesville and other cities.
Her coaching clients include senior- and mid-level leaders across a wide range of professions, from CEOs to Artistic Directors. Kate’s work focuses on allowing each leader’s best self to shine through by shedding the habits and anxieties that limit and cloud his or her natural expression. She also helps them become better negotiators through her work with Movius Consulting.

Through The Ariel Group, Kate delivered trainings around the world to Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies. She also developed curriculum for their trainings and served as the Director of Ariel Outreach.

Her clients have included American Express, AOL, Deloitte and Touche, The Federal Reserve Bank, Harvard Business School Executive Education, Columbia University Executive Education and Darden Business School Executive Education.

A professional actor with 30 years experience in TV, film and stage, Kate started Keep Me Company, which performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and co-produced plays with London-based companies. In NYC she worked extensively with the Barrow Group and the Circle Rep Lab, where she is a member. She was a Visiting Artist at the Cleveland School for the Arts for many years, developed and taught programs in NYC with the National Actors’ Theater, and has taught Acting for the Camera for the Lighthouse and Live Arts in Charlottesville, VA.

As a clinical social worker, Kate has worked with children and adults in a private practice as well as inner-city schools and prisons. Kate maintains a private practice in Charlottesville, VA.

Please tell us your favorite thing about volunteering with CIC.

Working with CIC has given me the rare opportunity to use my skills with people who are ready, open, and courageous enough to say "YES!" to new experiences. The training at CIC prepares these entrepreneurs beautifully to "try on" different ways of presenting themselves and their work in the world. Thank you!
