March 3, 2020Bill O’Malley is a Workgroup Leader in CIC current Entrepreneur Workshop and has been a steadfast volunteer in all aspects of CIC including mentorship, office hours, and as a Discussion Leader. Bill’s career started in 1977 in a large warehouse where he started in an entry-level role, holding a series of positions of increasing responsibility in Warehousing, Logistics and Transportation operations. This included time spent with three Top 100 Furniture Retailers in senior-level leadership roles. In 2000, Bill saw the need for a dedicated Executive Search firm within the Furniture Industry. He took a small contact list and a passion for hiring and mentoring and created a search firm from scratch. Bill has worked with industry leaders across the Furniture world domestic and overseas including Owners, CEO’s and hiring authorities. His firm Connector Team Recruiting is part of the MRINetwork of Search Firms and most of their business comes by referral from clients, leading consultants and trade groups. In 2020 they launched an affiliate company Profit Chain Consulting to provide additional services to their industry and to their ever-expanding client base
As a Workgroup Leader Bill says, “In just two weeks I already feel connected to the members in our group. I have gained a sense of their level of engagement, hard work and just how committed they are to their journey. Whether mentoring or presenting a discussion topic, my goal is to help entrepreneurs overcome any startup challenges and provide some real-world lessons that could help them succeed on their journey. I grew up in a large working-class family and my parents always stressed the importance of hard work and giving back”. Bill’s firm, Connector Team Recruiting, was founded with a guiding principle that while they are a for-profit enterprise, giving back is a core value and part of their mission. In Bill’s spare time, you can find him along the Blue Ridge, fishing, hiking or attending a UVA game with his wife Buffy. He loves Charlottesville and the town of Crozet. Last but not least you’ll typically find his company mascot and dog “Jack Chihuahua” by his side.
