CIC to be New Host for Central Virginia Small Business Development Center

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — The Community Investment Collaborative (CIC) will be the new fiscal sponsor and host for the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on January 1, 2020. The SBDC will be based at CIC’s office on Preston Avenue in Charlottesville and see clients there and in the localities it serves throughout Central Virginia.

“This partnership is a great opportunity for both organizations as we work to increase service to entrepreneurs throughout the region. The SBDC has a long history of providing high quality counseling and training to business owners. Aligning our two sets of services within one organization at CIC will help central Virginia residents more easily access the services they need to grow their businesses,” said Stephen Davis, President of CIC.

“Having the SBDC transition to CIC as its host will allow both organizations to expand on the types of projects we have co-sponsored in the past.  Being co-located will allow for a richer, more robust set of resources available to each of the aspiring entrepreneurs and owners of existing Central Virginia businesses seeking business support from either or both organizations. We are excited about CV SBDC’s future as a program of CIC, and look forward to making our services even more accessible and more helpful than ever before!” said Betty Hoge, Director of the SBDC.

The Central Virginia SBDC established a solid foundation in the region while hosted by Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development. CVPED provided the support we needed when we needed it and positioned the SBDC for a strong future. The Central Virginia SBDC had been hosted at the Central Virginia Economic Development Partnership for over 13 years. The SBDC transition to CIC is an opportunity to align and expand the region’s entrepreneurial and small business resources.
