Sarde Williams: Entrepreneur Spotlight

Sarde Williams is a native of Charlottesville, has been a Rehabilitation Technician for over 12 years specializing in ALS and Spinal Cord injuries, and is the owner of Sisters Who Care LLC. They offer in-home personal care to people of all ages, demographics, and care needs in the Charlottesville area, including cognitive stimulation, socialization, companionship, grooming, bathing, cooking, household cleaning, grocery shopping, therapy and family counseling, and transportation services. Sarde explains, “SWC is here to support, educate, build relationships with clients, and be there for them to develop better relationships with their families.”
Since childhood, Sarde has always been passionate about caregiving and helping others. It all started when she began helping care for ill family members as a child and into early adulthood. “A few years ago, my great aunt got sick, so I decided to step up to the plate to help care for her and other loved ones,” Sarde shares.
In 2014, Sarde began caring for her first official client on weekends and realized her desire to pursue caregiving full-time – making a business from it. In 2020, Sarde sought after her passion and got her LLC for Sisters Who Care LLC.
She participated in CIC’s Entrepreneur Workshop in the Spring of 2022 to learn more about business logistics. “Everything from the workshop helps you be ready to run your business,” she continues, “My biggest takeaway was the unit on breakeven. It really helps you understand what you need to do to help your business grow.”
She has also worked with our SBDC, where she received assistance with building her website, sharing, “The SBDC staff and advisors are very informative and go above and beyond to help you move in the right direction.”
Sarde was named a 2022 Minority Enterprise Grant recipient and plans to use the funding to purchase a wheelchair van to expand Sister’s Who Care LLC transportation services. She is also pursuing her nursing degree, currently enrolled at PVCC.
